Pondhopper – our very popular Norfolkness IPA is a transatlantic collaboration first brewed in 2018 to bring together Norfolk UK and Norfolk Virginia to celebrate Norfolk Day.
The collaboration was created with Smartmouth Beer – and their owner Porter Hardy and his family were very welcome guests as they flew over to join in the Norfolk Day fun.
I’m pleased to say we have brewed Pondhopper every year since to celebrate Norfolk Day in July,
This year Andrew was joined by his American wife Kim and for the first time their very own transatlantic collaboration – young Ronan. For those who don’t know the story – Kim flew over to meet Andrew for the very fist time just before the Covid lock down – and having only just met was told she couldn’t return until the lockdown was over.
The rest as they say is history and Ronan is the happy result!

Pondhopper 4.5% session IPA Available from 27 June
Our Pondhopper UK has a soft bitterness, with a growing fruit and citrus finish but also a nice malt biscuity sweetness. Easy drinking and perfect for summer sunshine – a contemporary ale but with a nod to traditional pale ales.
Taste: A straw-coloured session IPA with hop notes of orange and pineapple and a gentle biscuit malt flavour. A blend of USA and UK hops with some orange and pineapple thrown in for good measure.
