While me may still be sweltering in the summer heat the brew team are turning their attention to brewing our small pack range for autumn.
This year sees the return of our German porter in bottle – but under a different name – and the new addition of a chocolate orange stout in can.
DARK HOPPER 5% abv
Taste: A dark ale with rich espresso colour, smooth dark complexity and finish, with a gentle spicy hop
This is the 2026 version of our I’m Already Here German porter which has proved so popular in bottle. We originally brewed this beer in collaboration with Sean and Ruth of Brid’s Cross brewery (pronounced Breed’s Cross) of Rochdale.
To add to the beer’s authenticity, we use 100% German malts and hops. Usually, this style used Munich malts to a very high percentage of the malt bill – up to 70% to add to a very rich mouthfeel and malt forward body. The espresso colour is achieved by the addition of dark roasted malts but crucially they are de-husked, so you add colour but not any astringency.
As for the hops we are using German grown Perle hops – which although very sparsely used will add a slight hop profile and aroma of spice, cedar, and orange.
Oh, as for the name change we felt it appropriate since sadly Brids Cross is no longer brewing and so a more Moon Gazer based name seemed fitting.
CHOC O ‘HARE 4.5% abv
Taste: A dark stout with a thick tan head, full body and smooth mouthfeel. Warm biscuit and bready flavour with hints of chocolate and orange add to the sweetness and complexity.
A new twist on our award winning Skidaddler milk stout – brewed this time with the addition of cacao husk for the cholate flavour and orange peel at the ed of the boil to impart a hint of orange.
A chocolate orange in a glass – just right for the autumn and winter nights.
