Taste Guide: Golden pale ale – lager malt and maize create a smooth malt backdrop for berry fruit and tropical hop finish.
The latest additions to our ‘Jack’ range of beers sees us heading across the Atlantic to select some fruity hops – especially Pink which is the star hop of this beer and is grown on the Jackson Hop Farm in Wilder, Idaho. Hence the name Idaho Jack.
The Pink hop variety was developed by Jackson Farms, to offer an enticing blend of tropical fruit, citrus zest, and subtle sweet notes. In this brew we also pair it with a hop called Krush which gives a fruit cocktail of peach and mango.
We are using a couple of additions to our usual barley malt base – supporting our go to Maris Otter malt is lager malt and maize for added sweetness and we are also using spelt – an ancient grain historically used in brewing – which adds a nutty, biscuit flavour.
So – there you have it – a smooth, sweet and complex golden ale ideal for the hot summer days ahead.
Enjoy.
