Well, what a week – where we saw us nominated for 2 prestigious local awards for our work in the community and for charity.
We found out about both awards in the same week and to be fair it really does make you proud to know that the work that we do is both recognised and appreciated by those outside of the charity we raise meet and awareness for.
The two awards we are in the running for are:
BBC Radio Norfolk Make a Difference Awards
This award recognises individuals and groups who make life better for people in our communities.
Norfolk Rural Business Awards – Norfolk County Council
Norfolk’s ‘Unsung Hero’ category.
Businesses have been shortlisted for the awards which were launched last year by Norfolk County Council in partnership with the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association (RNAA).
The winners will be named at a ceremony at the showcase event on the county’s calendar on Thursday 26 June.
Both awards focus on the work that we do raising awareness of testicular cancer and the supporting local Norfolk cancer charity – It’s on the Ball. Our work is a team effort – with the brew team creating 3 new beers each year to highlight the importance on early diagnosis of this cancer which needleless kills young men each year. This campaign wouldn’t happen without the amazing support of the pubs who each tear really get behind it and spread the word.
Mr Moon Gazer also puts himself through tough physical challenges with his #beerpush where he pushes a bright blue 75kg of beer huge distance to grab attention of people so they get the check yourself for cancer message. Having pushed the barrel originally 149 miles from Norfolk to St Barts Hospital in London, he them upped his game to push it 7 marathons in 7 days around Norfolk, but this year will attempt 7 ultra marathons around Norwich – that’s 75kg 350km in 7 days. ( That event takes place 1-7 October and you can fid out more here.)
Then beer push is really supported by the wider beer community, from barley growers to male and hops suppliers, pubs and fellow brewers – all united to spread the word – it is as simple as that to save a life.
