Well, more accurately its back by popular demand as they are all making a return thanks to pester power from pubs and drinkers.
Pondhopper 4.5% session IPA Available w/c 16 June
An annual return for our Norfolkness IPA – created in collaboration with Smartmouth Brewing of Norfolk, USA – and celebrating Norfolk and Norfolk Day.
Our Pondhopper UK has a soft bitterness, with a growing fruit and citrus finish but also a nice malt biscuity sweetness. Easy drinking and perfect for summer sunshine – a contemporary ale but with a nod to traditional pale ales.
Taste: A straw coloured session IPA with hop notes of orange and pineapple and a gentle biscuit malt flavour. A blend of USA and UK hops.
Leverett 3.4% abv Golden ale / mild Available w/c 9 June
Our lower abv golden ale – at 3.4% it still manages to pack a punch on flavour and malt and hop balance – making it a refreshing summer drink.
When we first launched it we called it a golden mild – as it is lightly hopped and true to the mild style – but that seemed to confuse some folk and so while we consider it our golden mild – and it is – we will simply al it a golden ale on the pump clip!
Its lightly hopped using Eagle and CF299 , both of which are gentle fruity UK varieties to add a little something but letting the Maris Otter malt take the plaudits! Very refreshing!
Taste: Biscuit malt base, with a gentle but refreshing hop note of orange and lemon.
Skipper 4.4% amber pale ale Available end June
Skipper our Norfolk amber ale is a great mid strength session beer for those who like a pale ale or a IPA – we like to think it sits perfectly between the two styles and will appeal to both.
We wanted Skipper to have a nice pale ale feel to it, plenty of hoppiness and flavour but to be a soft easy drinking ale as well – a pale ale meets a session IPA you could say. Light amber in colour it has a gentle malt complexity.
We also wanted the beer to have quite a complex mouthfeel and malt profile, so joining Maris Otter in the mash tun was a healthy dose of brown malt and crystal malt to give it a biscuit, slightly sweet malt base. As for the hops, a combination of American and British hops are used to give the beer a floral and citrus flavour and aroma.
A blend of Admiral, Azzacca, Cascade and Amarillo leave the beer bursting with hop complexity yet very well balanced and offering fruit notes but in a quaffable way, modern in style yet a heathy nod to traditional best bitters.
Taste: An amber ale with floral and citrus hop notes of and a complex malt flavour.
