BEER PUSH 1-7 OCT – check out the route
Fred Riseborough was 24 when he died of germ cell cancer in May 2018. He was a young man who loved his beer and loved his checked shirts.
We thank Fred’s parents Jo and Steve and indeed all of his family for once again allowing us to use Fred’s tragic passing and his memory in the hope to spread awareness and stop other young men needlessly dying from this cancer.
Fred was a former Hellesdon High a student and our route will pass Fred’s school and the road where he grew up each day of the push.
Germ cell cancer is the cancer which causes testicular cancer, but in Fred’s case it grew in his chest cavity. Just seven months later on May 1 2018 he died after his lungs could not cope with pneumonia.
Although Fred couldn’t have checked himself, hopefully his life raises awareness to check for testicular cancer – and the fact that any sign of a change to your body young men should consult with their doctors.
Fred’s story highlights the cruelty of this cancer – it doesn’t discriminate, looking for the weak or unhealthy – it can strike anyone down.
Join in the beer push.
Check David route and join him for a mile, or as long as you like – or just turn up to say hi. WHERE TO FIND DAVID
We hope to see you there and do come along wearing a check shirt.
