Now, in our short life as a brewery we have been fortunate enough to have some customers who have been with us on the journey from the very beginning.

One such customer is Beers of Europe who were one of our first customers and have managed all of our on line sales and despatch ever since.  To have our Moon Gazer ales and craft lager in their range of over 6,000 beers from across the world has been great – as it allows customers to build cases of a variety of brewers and so helps small teams like ours greatly.

So, when they asked us to brew them a one-off beer to celebrate their twentieth anniversary we were only too happy to oblige.

They chose to call the beer Tap Room 20, as the tap room is the place to come together and enjoy the experience of beer, while the 20 obviously reflects the anniversary.

The beer recipe also reflects the global choice offered by Beers of Europe.

We wanted the beer to reflect heritage and quality – so malts used included the heritage barley Chevalier – a premium barley, but also includes Vienna and Pilsner malts, as we wanted the beer to reflect the Belgian / European feel to promote where it all began for Beers of Europe. It’s a nice light golden ale in colour.

Hop wise we wanted to add an American element to the brew, again reflecting how Beers of Europe has changed as they now offer lots of craft American beers.

We also wanted hops which would add a good citrus, lemon and orange feel to the beer, so chose; Eukanot, Jarrylo, Chinook, Cascade – before mixing in some French Mistral for good measure.

On the brew day we were joined by Beers of Europe’s very own trainee sommelier, Matthew Keeley-Smith and were delighted for him to see first-hand how we work at the brewery. Pleased to say he was happy to muck in as well!

The result is a nice, easy drinking IPA, not too overpowering to as we wanted it to appeal to those with more traditional as well as those preferring more modern styles.

This is a beer that can be enjoyed by everyone, old and new and is a great beer to stay in and kick back with!

As a company, Beers of Europe are supporters of the East Anglian Air Ambulance and will be donating 20p from each sale to the charity’s ‘HELP PROTECT THE CREW PPE APPEAL’.

So, hopefully you can join with us in raising a glass of Tap Room 20 to Beers of Europe. You can order online here.
