As our regular followers will know we are very proud to be part of the It’s On the Ball campaign and helping their small, dedicated team do all that they can to raise awareness of testicular cancer.

A key part of that support has been the brewing of Tobi’s Tipple each January.

Well, this year is no exception and Tobi’s will be back on the bar. However, you know by now that us at Brewhouse Madhouse like to ring the changes and do stuff that little bit differently.

So, for 2018 we will have an all new Tobi’s Tipple – appropriately called the NUTCHEKKA edition. (Feel free to hum along to Tchaikovsky and pirouette while checking he says attempting a very tenuous seasonal ballet link!)

More news will follow but, for now, let’s just tempt you with the recipe and flavours to keep you going.

Nutchekka will be an orange /light amber coloured beer crafted by using amber, crystal and crystal rye malts adding to the base malt of Maris Otter. We will also sprinkle in a wee bit of wheat to give the beer head retention.

As for the hop, the beer will use hops from Germany, Slovenia, America and New Zealand – we figured testicular cancer is a global problem so we should all share in it!

From Germany we have Northern Brewer and from America the Columbus hop, both will bring spicy and black pepper to the bitterness.
The later hops will give the beer floral, citrus, mango, gooseberry and pine flavours and aromas by using Slovenian Bobek, American Citra and Amarillo and New Zealand Nelson Sauvin.

At 3.9% this beer a well-balanced but has a decent hop kick – we think it will be a real all-rounder!

Like I say, we will bring you more news on this but just wanted to give you the heads up and also say a massive thanks to the pubs and clubs who are once again really getting behind this campaign. Simply by serving a great beer they are undoubtedly helping to save lives. Now that I like the idea of!
