The team at The Norfolk Brewhouse are thrilled to have received the accolade of Norfolk Food Hero – Best Specialist Food & Drink Producer 2015.

The awards – now in their eighth year – are awarded by The Aylsham Show which is a strong supporter of food and drink in Norfolk. The awards were established to recognise the county’s champions, individuals and businesses. It honours those who make great food, produce delicious drinks or provide a first-class, home-grown menu.

Norfolk Hero Food & Drink Awards Committee chairman Jacinth Rogers said: “It’s once a year that we honour creative individuals and businesses in the farming, food and drink industry from our beautiful county and it’s such a pleasure to award them for their hard work.

“These awards have only been going for eight years, but they bring great benefits to the winners and nominees, which is vital to our local economy, tourism and the quality of our produce.”

The process of winning the award involved The Norfolk Brewhouse receiving numerous nominations from customers which in turn led to a visit to the brewery by a panel of judges assessing the team’s commitment to criteria including local sourcing, sustainability, environmental practices and quality of product.

All of the criteria are at the heart of what The Norfolk Brewhouse is all about – using local ingredients and local suppliers to produce a quality product which proudly bears the name Norfolk on every bottle and pint.

David Holliday, who runs the brewery with his wife Rachel was thrilled to receive the award:

“We are a small team which takes pride in everything we do, Norfolk is blessed with so many quality producers and retailers are quite rightly earning a growing reputation for quality in the food and drink sector.”

“From local pubs, hotels and restaurants to producer’s markets, farm shops and delis the county is blessed with some of the finest people and products – and it is a delight to work with them. The fact that we are all one team, promoting Norfolk means a lot to us – yes there is competition within that – but at our level we are just proud to be contributing to helping to raise the profile of Norfolk as a food destination.”

As winner of the Food & Drink Producer Award, team at the Brewhouse now goes forward to the championship round, which involves other category winners such as Best Food and Drink Retailer. The Championship Winner together with the Individual Food and Drink Hero Award will be announced at the next Aylsham Show on Bank Holiday Monday at Blickling Park, Aylsham.
