Our charity song in aid of Its On the Ball is now available to download for just a  £1 donation

The simple message is to get young men to check themselves and Take Their Life in Their Hands…

We are so excited that we now have  a #beerpush song to help spread the word.

Matt Watson – a mate and a great Norfolk singer songwriter has written a song which he hopes will literally save young men’s lives by raising awareness of testicular cancer – and the importance of men checking themselves regularly,

The song ‘Life in Your Hands’ has been written by Wymondham based Matt Watson in support of male cancer charity – It’s On the Ball – and in support of David’s Beer Push.

David will use the song as his inspirational anthem as he pushes a 75kg barrel of beer around Norfolk – attempting to complete 7 marathons in 7 days as he explains:

“We really wanted a simple catchy tune which could help young men get the message. This particular cancer is most prevalent in young men – and that makes getting the message across much harder as young men tend to think they are invincible – and that cancer is an old persons disease”

“I am a big fan of Matts songwriting and had an idea that if we could create a tune with the message, it might be a way of getting through and saving lives, and that isn’t being over dramatic. The good news about this cancer is that with early diagnosis 96% can be cured, however the flip side is that it is one of the fastest spreading cancers and so ignoring it for just a few weeks could be the difference between life and death. “

That’s why Its On The Ball encourage men to check themselves monthly and that if men notice any changes they get straight to the doctor.  It’s that message which Matt has conveyed in his tune as he explains:

“I was really happy to help out with the tune when David approached me and am excited that it will be able to make a difference and save lives.  I wanted the tune to be upbeat – its about living life to the full and literally the chorus says it all – Take the chance take your life in your hands and maybe tomorrow you’ll have time to borrow – a simple monthly self-check can highlight any problems which can then be quickly dealt with.  Your life in your hands. “

The track also features a selection of Matts musical friends mostly from Norfolk have helped out adding their voices to the rousing chorus:  American musician Michael Ferentino recorded his vocals all the way from his home in Florida! Justin Brand of NRSix Studios in Norwich, Jason Wick of The little Red Kings and The Feathered Thorns, Chad Mason Norwich based singer songwriter, ‘Punk Folker’ Anto Morra and ex Huck member Giles Wakely. The Trumpet is provided by Steve Pretty of The Hackney Colliery Band

The song will be available from 22 September for people to download on Bandcamp for just £1 which is then also donated to the charity.  Special commemorative CDs will also be available to buy. But you can pre order now and for justa £1 get a great track. The money will be donated to Its on the Ball and help get the message out there.

The song will feature heavily on David’s charity Beer Push which takes place 1-7 October as he pushes a barrel of beer 186 miles in 7 days raising awareness of testicular cancer.

“We want to play the song across Norfolk and also at the end of each day there is an event at a pub and so we also hope to see which pub can sing the best and loudest chorus – if we can get young men singing the words and hopefully the message will sink in.”

“It’s also a rousing anthem so it will keep me motivated as we spread the word.”
